Healthy, Fit & Fun

Who wants to get fit for FREE? Healthy, Fit & Fun promotes exercise and good health in a fun, group setting. People of all ages and abilities are encouraged to come get fit and make new friends while enjoying the beauty of the Esplanade.  The Esplanade Association partners with organizations around Boston to offer a diverse array of expert-led  fitness classes.  Classes are held in the evening or morning and all classes are free and open to the public.

The 2013 season begins July 10th and runs through August 30th. Thanks to our partners we are able to offer a great range of programs including favorites from last season as well as exciting new classes.

This year we are excited to welcome our snack and beverage partners Neuro, Luna, and Polar. Attend our classes and get the chance to learn about their products, get free samples, and more!

Workout and get rewarded! This summer register at 20 of our classes  and you are automatically entered into a raffle to win a shopping spree at Marathon Sports or Athleta.

NEW Total Body Training – Fitness Series

Mondays:6:00pm                                                                                                                     Fiedler Field (Arthur Fiedler Memorial Head)

This exciting new program covers a new fitness topic each week.  Class begins with a 15-minute workshop where a fitness specialist will provide information and answer questions pertaining to the topic of the day.  Following the discussion participants will be led through a series of diverse body-weight exercises that can be performed virtually anywhere by all fitness levels. Functional movements, such as push-ups planks, and lunges can be modified  to meet any level of conditioning. Each class will offer a different set of exercises to learn and do on your own.

Weekly Topics: 8/12: Strength, 8/19: Cardiovascular, 8/26: Flexibility

Community Walk

Mondays:6:00pm                                                                                                           Hatch Shell 

If walking is your exercise of choice then this program is for you!  Every Monday, members of The Esplanade Association will lead a group on a 2.5  mile power walk through the park.  It’s the perfect opportunity to take in the beauty of the Esplanade and learn about the park while breaking a sweat

Tuesdays:6:00pm                                                                                                           Hatch Shell

Fusing Latin rhythms and easy to follow moves, nothing is more fun and healthy than a high energy Zumba workout. Routines feature interval training sessions where fast and slow rhythms are combined with resistance training. Come get your groove on and break a sweat on the Esplanade.

Sunset Yoga

Wednesdays:6:00pm                                                                                                                     Fiedler Field (Arthur Fiedler Memorial Head)

Whether you’re a beginner or expert our yoga program allows you to challenge  your mind and body  while enjoying beautiful river views. Increase your flexibility and muscle tone, while achieving calmness, stress reduction and overall body awareness. Namaste!

Run Club

Wednesdays:6:30pm                                                                                                       Marathon Sports Boston – 671 Boylston St.

Whether you hit the pavement every day or you’re just getting started, runners of all ages and levels are invited to meet at Marathon Sports every Wednesday for the Marathon Sports Run Club. Runners of ALL abilities are welcome and have the option to choose between a  3, 5, or 8 mile route.  

6:00pm – Warm Up

Come early for the opportunity to stow belongings, stretch, and socialize.  You may even get the chance to test new products and receive free vendor give-aways!

6:30pm- Join the Run

Pick your route! Break-up into the 3, 5, or 8 mile run group and enjoy a great run through the city of Boston and along the Esplanade.

Begins 7/10

With constantly varied, high-intensity functional movements, CrossFit is a training philosophy that coaches people of all shapes and sizes to improve their physical well-being and cardiovascular fitness in a hardcore yet accepting and encouraging environment. CrossFit is designed to be fun, challenging, and effective for people of all fitness levels so why not come down to the Esplanade and see what all of the buzz is about?

Boot Camp

Fridays:7:00am                                                                                                                        Fiedler Field (Arthur Fiedler Memorial Head)

Looking for a full body workout? Then come to the park for an aggressive, military-style, circuit workout featuring high-intensity conditioning and power moves. The beautiful setting will take your mind off of the burn!
