Who wants to get fit for FREE? Healthy, Fit & Fun promotes exercise and good health in a fun, group setting. People of all ages and abilities are encouraged to come get fit and make new friends while enjoying the beauty of the Esplanade. The Esplanade Association partners with organizations around Boston to offer a diverse array of expert-led fitness classes. All classes are free and open to the public.
The 2014 season ended on September 12th. Thank you to all or our partners, sponsors, and participants for making this summer’s program such a success. We had a great time getting fit with you and look forward to doing it again next summer!

Mondays – 12:00pm
If walking is your exercise of choice, or you just want a break from the office, then this program is for you! Every Monday at noon, members of The Esplanade Association will lead a group on a 2.5 mile power walk through the park. It’s the perfect opportunity to take in the beauty of the Esplanade and get some fresh air, while breaking a sweat Classes begin 7/7 Classes led by The Esplanade Association
Tuesdays – 6:00pm
Fusing Latin rhythms and easy to follow moves, nothing is more fun and healthy than a high energy Zumba workout. Routines feature interval training sessions where fast and slow rhythms are combined with resistance training. Come get your groove on and break a sweat on the Esplanade. Classes begin 7/15 Classes sponsored by Healthworks. Refreshments provided by Neuro and CLIF MOJO.
Wednesdays – 6:00pm
Whether you’re a beginner or expert our yoga program allows you to challenge your mind and body while enjoying beautiful river views. Increase your flexibility and muscle tone, while achieving calmness, stress reduction and overall body awareness. Namaste! Classes begin 7/9 Classes sponsored by Athleta. Refreshments provided by Polar Beverages and CLIF MOJO.
Wednesdays – 6:30pm
Whether you hit the pavement every day or you’re just getting started, runners of all ages and levels are invited to meet at Marathon Sports every Wednesday for the Marathon Sports Run Club. Runners of ALL abilities are welcome and have the option to choose between a 3, 5, or 8 mile route. 6:00pm – Warm Up Come early for the opportunity to stow belongings, stretch, and socialize. You may even get the chance to test new products and receive free vendor give-aways! 6:30pm- Join the Run Pick your route! Break-up into the 3, 5, or 8 mile run group and enjoy a great run through the city of Boston and along the Esplanade. Begins 7/10 Run Club led by Marathon Sports
Thursdays – 9:30am
Originating in China hundreds of years ago, Tai Chi not only conditions physically and relieves stress, but ultimately leads you to a heightened sense of well being. Instructors will teach you a series of body movements which will then combine into graceful flow techniques. A great class for the body, mind, and spirit! Classes begin 7/10 (no class on 7/24) Classes sponsored by The Boston Kung Fu Tai Chi Institute.
Thursdays – 6:00pm
With constantly varied, high-intensity functional movements, CrossFit is a training philosophy that coaches people of all shapes and sizes to improve their physical well-being and cardiovascular fitness in a hardcore yet accepting and encouraging environment. CrossFit is designed to be fun, challenging, and effective for people of all fitness levels so why not come down to the Esplanade and see what all of the buzz is about? Classes begin 7/10 Classes sponsored by The Reebok Foundation and led by Rebook Crossfit Back Bay. Refreshments provided by Polar Beverages and CLIF MOJO.
Dancing in the Park
Thursdays – 6:00pm
We are excited to announce that revival of our Thursday night Dancing in the park. Each Thursday(7/8 – 8/21) will focus on a different style of dance led by experts from Arthur Murray Dance Center. On September 4th, BollyX will join us to lead a special, high energy, Bollywood inspired dance class!With so many styles everyone can find some inspiration to let loose and find your rhythm.

- Dances will be Foxtrot, Waltz, may be Rumba and then dancing to classic standards
- 8/7 – Let’s Go Latin!
- Dances will be Salsa, Bachata. Merengue and then dancing to a variety of latin music
- 8/14 – Modern Mixup: Music of Today!
- Dances will be Hustle and Cha Cha and then dancing to Top 40 Hits
- 8/21 – City Nights: Ballroom in Boston
Dancing – BollyX
- 9/4 – On this special night instructors from BollyX will come to the park to lead participants through a Bollywood-inspired dance-fitness program that combines dynamic choreography and intensive workouts with the hottest music from around the world.
