The Esplanade is a special park enjoyed by more than two million visitors each year. Unfortunately, in spite of its tremendous popularity, this special park is in a critical state of disrepair due to decades of insufficient funding. The Esplanade Association (TEA) was formed in 2001 as a park friends group committed to helping to restore and care for the Esplanade. Exciting progress has been made since TEA was founded but there is still a great deal to do.
The Esplanade Association was very busy this past year. Thanks to the generous support of our members, we were able to:
As we approach the Esplanade’s 2010 Centennial celebration, the Esplanade Association is working to complete as many park restoration and improvement projects as possible. This year we are focusing our attention on carrying out urgently needed tree and horticulture care, ensuring that the restoration of Commissioners Landings begins as planned, expanding TEA’s community enrichment and outreach programs, and planning for other priority capital projects such as the replacement of the outdoor fitness equipment, renovation of the park’s closed restrooms, and the rebuilding of the Lee pool.
We also have a goal of having 2010 Esplanade Association members before the year 2010!
If you care about the Esplanade, please become a TEA member. It’s easy to sign-up online and you will begin receiving membership benefits right away!
We hope you will visit this website often to learn more about the Esplanade, the many ways you can enjoy the park, and the progress TEA is making as we work to build a bright future for the Esplanade.
Thank you for your interest and we hope to see you on the Esplanade!
Sincerely,
Jeryl Oristaglio
