Getting to the Park

The Esplanade is approximately 64 acres and extends for 3 miles along the Boston shore of the Charles River from the Boston Museum of Science to the Boston University Bridge. Storrow Drive separates the park from Boston city proper. Park visitors must therefore use one of the parks eight footbridges to enter the park. Parking is not allowed on the Esplanade. We recommend that park visitors either take the T to the park or that they park in one the nearby public parking facilities.

Below is a link to an interactive map of the Esplanade which provides more information about park locations and features; it also allows you to choose to view specific park areas and amenities such as nearby parking, T-stops, playgrounds, access ways, and much more! You can turn features on and off by clicking on them in the list. Click “Reset Map” to see all features. Click on the map icons to learn more about each feature.
