On Friday, November 8th, The Esplanade Association, in partnership with Marathon Daffodils and with the help of over 90 volunteers from Massachusetts Service Alliance, planted 4,000 daffodils in the park. The new bulbs were planted along the shoreline of the Charles River Esplanade and the planting bed by the Arthur Fiedler Footbridge.
The Esplanade Association is very proud to be a part of the Marathon Daffodils project and would like to give special thanks to Diane Valle, volunteer and organizer, of Marathon Daffodils for generously donating 2,000 bulbs for this planting.
These new daffodils are in addition to the 4,000 that were recently planted along the banks near the Hatch Shell with the help of volunteers from Kingsley Montessori School and Northeastern University’s Kappa Delta Sorority.
Marathon Daffodils is a collaboration of nonprofit organizations, gardeners, cities and towns, organizations, businesses, and citizens interested in preserving the spirit of the Boston Marathon and Boston Strong, while embracing the tradition of celebrating the arrival of spring to Boston.
We would like to thank all of our volunteers and supporters and look forward to seeing the Esplanade park in full bloom!
